As a sort of non-ionic surfactant and the degradation products of alkylphenol ethoxylates in the environment, octylphenol is the typical and more stable organic compound of the environmental endocrine disruptors. It has become a hot research field for the environmental science in respect of its toxicity, bioaccumulation, persistence and estrogenic activity in the environmental distribution and behavior as well as the ecological risk assessment. In this paper, the octylphenol determination and distribution of various types of surface water in Jinan was studied by the method that has been established previously and conclusions for the detection and analysis are presented as following:1. All the target points in Jinan surface water are detected to prove the presence of the environmental hormones octylphenol, with different OP concentrations of water pollution.2. Human activities affect the content and dispersion of octylphenol. The more intensive human activities are, the more serious octylphenol pollution is.3. Stagnant water bodies have more serious octylphenol pollution than flowing water because flowing water can dilute the concentration of octylphenol, while still water can not be updated and long-term, resulting in the OP bioaccumulation and deposition in water bodies.4. Octylphenol contamination analysis of each target point in Jinan surface water bodies is demonstrated below:(1) The Xiaoqing River is the most OP polluted area, which is much more serious than other water bodies, due to the sewage of many factories and residents from the two sides of the river before treatment.(2) OP pollution in southern mountain reservoir is more serious than that in the north Queshan Reservoir, mainly because of the open surroundings of southern mountain area and the restaurants around the dense population activities. Furthermore, Queshan Reservoir has strict closed-end management and Langmaoshan Reservoir has less human activity.(3)The moat run around the old city, while water from underground spring is rarely polluted. However it is located in the city center, bound to be impacted by human activities.(4) The Yellow River has a low OP content due to its large amount of water and less human activities around as well as the flowing water in the moat and the Yellow River; OP concentration in the Queshan Reservoir is essentially the same to the Yellow River as water in Queshan Reservoir comes from the Yellow River.
