In this paper, sumerized the effect production parameters and recipe which affect IZOD impact strength and tensile strength at yield of products. Through the study on documents about high impact PS domestic and abroad, in combination with our PS production process, we have made design of experiment in our PS unit as scientific test, and have gotten conclusions:Firstly, the function of t of first pre-polymerization reactor is conducting material and heat, is not signicantly influence the property of product. So we may set the high gitation rate possible(28rate/minute).Secondly, the function of the agitation rate of second pre-polymerization reactor is accomplish the transfer of two phase, adjust the agitation rate, we can get the reasonable dimension of the rubber particles and the perfect shape of the rubber particle island. The Izod impact strength can get11.5 kJ/m2,tensile strength can get28Mpa with the reasonable range of50%rubber particle size at2.00-2.45um.Thirdly, the factors which influence the properties of HIPS on industry equipment were studied and the key ones were proposed. Further, the technical conditions of polymerization, the kinds of rubbers, the dosage controlment and adjustment were discussed. Finally, the interior conformation of the product, including the graft-inficiency and container of rubber particles must be high comparatively, whether it is gotten by adjustment the production parameter or changing the recipe. After the trial on PS plant, we have overcomed the restrictions of both impact strength and yield strength can not be improved at same time as described in documental records. We successfully increased both indicators by15-20%which meets our customers’requirements.
