Marine fouling often causes the damage of marine structure materials and lowersthe serve life, so economic losses and disaster accident often happen in the marineenvironment. The best solution to antifouling is to apply coatings. Most marineantifouling coatings in the market currently contain toxic, they can cause damage tothe ecological balance of the ocean. This paper is devoted to the development of somenovel anti-corrosion and antifouling nano-composite coatings which are non-toxic andenvironment protection, in order to reduce the losses caused by marine biofouling.Nano-ZnO is a new material with various excellent properties and is used inmany fields with the property of antifouling. Carbon nanotube (CNT) and graphane asnew carbon materials are outstanding, non-toxic and environment friendly. Both ofthem have antifouling property, and CNT can also decrease the surface energy ofcoating. Because agglomeration of nano-materials is harmful to properties of coating, titanate coupler agent HW201is used to modify nano-ZnO and silane coupling agentKH602is utilized to modify CNT and grapheme in order to improve its dispersity inthe coating. In this work, nano-materials as pigment are mixed into epoxy coating inorder to make a marine anti-corrosion and antifouling coating respectively. FTIR、TEM、XRD and antifouling experiment are used to test the properties of nano-materials and modified nano-materials. The anti-corrosion and antifouling propertiesof three kinds of nano-composite coating are also tested respectively. In my research, it is revealed that their dispersity increases too much aftermodified. It is also found that the rate of anti-corrosion and antifouling is higher inepoxy containing modified nano-ZnO, modified CNT and modified graphanecompare to that in varnish. The optimal property is obtained when the coating isreinforced with the nano-ZnO particles at3.5wt%and when the coating is reinforcedwith the CNT at0.1%~0.15%.
