The biomass oil coal water slurry(B-COWS), which containing Fujiananthracite, water hyacinth, heavy oil, water and dispersant, was a substitute forheavy oil for combustion. The energy utilization of water hyacinth was combinedwith the modern clean coal technology, which can not only effectively solvethe problem of environmental pollution caused by water hyacinth, but also can makefull use of the heat of water hyacinth, and improve the combustion efficiency ofcoal. This article focused on the study of the biomass oil coal water slurry asfollows:(l) The distribution of coal particles was studied by using the laser particle sizeanalyzer. The effect of the particle size distribution of Yongan coal on the rheologicalproperties of the B-COWS was investigatived. The experimental results was thatwhen the grinding time was16minutes, the viscosity and stability of the B-COWScould meet the requirements on the industry level.(2) In additon, the slurry ability of the B-COWS with three anthracite anddifferent amount of dispersant was studied. The results showed that the B-COWS thatwas made by2~5%water hyacinth (on dry basis),15~20%heavy oil,1%dispersant,40~45%coal, and water, could be prepared at acceptable viscosity within0.8~1.2Pa·swith excellent stability, and meet the Chinese technical specification standards of coalwater mixture(GB/T18855-2002). So it was feasible to make the B-COWS using waterhyacinth, heavy oil and anthracite powder. In addition, the results also showed that, the apparent viscosity of the B-COWS gradually increased as biomass content increasing. When the temperature was below60℃, the apparent viscosity of the B-COWSgradually decreased with increasing temperature. This paper also have researched theinfluence of the three different dispersants on the apparent viscosity of theB-COWS. The result was that the slurry performance of polystyrene sulfonatesodium was higher than that of the lignin sulfonate sodium and methyleneformaldehyde condensation.(3) The combustion characteristics and the corresponding reaction mechanism of the B-COWS were studied by the thermal analysis. The factors such as thebiomass contents, the heating rate, air flow that affected the B-COWS combustioncharacteristics, and the activation energy were analyzed. The results showed that theflammability index C and the integrated burning index S of the B-COWS weregreater than that of coal, CWS, COWS, and increased with the biomass contentsincreasing; the ignition temperature and burnout temperature of the B-COWS werealso lower than that of coal, COWS, which decreasesd with the increasing that ofbiomass contents. In conclusion, the rheological properties and the combustion characteristics ofthe B-COWS were better. So, it had a good developmentant prospect that the energyutilization of water hyacinth was combined with the modern clean coal technology.
