There were frequently-happened water pollution accidents in China recently, which showed that the controlling and monitoring system to the dangerous organicpollutions existed limitations. To the cases in which pollution reports wereintentionally hided and postponed, there were no suitable abilities to early-warningmonitoring and pollution analyzing all over the world. This study successfullyachieved one early-warning monitoring technique for organic pollutions in thesurface water by ESI-MS-MS technology. This early-warning monitoring technique creatively used alkalization-ionexchange-acidification method to remove the sodium ion in the raw water. Itresulted in an effectively suppression to the interference of [M+Na] which appearedfrequently in ordinary LC-MS and LC-MS-MS using. The direct connectionbetween parent charge-to-mass ratio and molecular weight was built up, which madereading and analyzing MS data much simpler. To handle more than90,000datafrom one single sample, many basic functions in the Excel software were used. Thissoftware automatically chose the suddenly raising charge-to-mass ratio data and bestcone voltage data and so on. And the software also offered the best visualization ofall the massive data.By structure analyzing, the daughter ion’s chemical structures were gotten.Based on the nature connection between the regular parent-daughter ion parametersand the structures of the molecular-the fragments, this early-warning monitoringtechnique explained the strategy of arrangement organic pollutions’ fragmentdatabase by internet. This made a breakthrough to the limitation of money andstandard material, which allowed this technique monitoring more explainable. In all, this early-warning monitoring technique filled the blank of early-warning organicpollutions as well as pollutions’ name confirming. The study tested this early-warning monitoring technique with26kinds ofpolluted raw water with carbaryl, oxolinic acid, di(2-ethylhexyl) adipate, sulfadoxine, tetracycline etc. The data showed that this early-warning monitoringtechnique worked well with a high sensitive facing the typical herbicides, pesticides, drugs and chemical-industry products. Using water from Luanhe River as the matrix,17pollutions’ minimum detection limits were lower than0.25mg/L. The best threewere that dimethoate (26.7μg/L), atrazine (55.6μg/L) and carbaryl (58.5μg/L). Threepollutions minimum detection limits were higher than0.5mg/L, which werereserpine (725.8μg/L), dibutyl phthalate (967.7μg/L) and di(2-ethylhexyl) adipate(1.0mg/L).
