For the current development of the aluminum industry, the alumina production of China is49million tons of alumina in2013, China is using less than3%of the world’s bauxite reserves to product about17%of the world’s bauxite. China’s high A/S ratio bauxite(A/S>7) have less than20%of the total bauxite reserves. The contradiction between the low-grade bauxite resources and production process requirements has become one of the majorbottleneck restricting the healthy development of alumina industry in China. Research and development of low grade bauxite’s utilization technology has important significance to the development of China aluminum industry. This paper raises to using the low-grade, refractory bauxite to product alumina, using the mature, reliable Bayer method process, through the optimization of the process, selected the appropriate process parameters, adopted advanced and reliable process equipment, designed alumina refinery. Through a series of measures, the comprehensive energy consumption of product is better than other domestic similar projects, it greatly reduces energy consumption. In the same time extracted iron ore from red mud, it makes the local low-grade and high iron content bauxite has been effectively utilized. The alumina refinery’s by-product is iron ore concentrate which reached400kt/a. The total product recovery rate of Alumina has reached80%, increased6.67%over the trade standards. The fresh water consumption has reached2.5t/t-Al2O3, reduced by16.7%compared with the trade standards. The live steam consumption has reached2.85t/t-Al2O3, reduced by5%compared with the trade standards, The comprehensive energy consumption has reached12GJ/t-Al2O3, reduced by15%compared with the trade standards, other technical and economic indicators are also significantly better than the technical conditions in "the Code Conditions of Aluminum Trade".
