Metallic soap is widely used as plastics stabilizers, lubricants, halogen absorbent textilewaterproofing agents, flatting agents of paint and so on,which have the characteristics of bothmetal salt and aliphatic acid. The appearance of zinc stearate sol is milky white, and theProduct has outstanding advantages,non-toxic, easily dispersed in water, with a fine-grained,good dispersion, easy foaming, lubricating delicate sense, good thermal properties and quickdrying. The traditional methods for preparing zinc stearate are mainly direct method andmetathesis method. Manufacturing primarily zinc stearate powder with the method of in situzinc stearate dispersion, surfactant-assisted dispersion and the direct method zinc stearate solprepared are stated, and also the stability of the sol zinc stearate, surfactant which fits in wellWith zinc stearate is studied in this paper, finally, the optimized preparation plan of zincstearate is designed, which can lower costs of production.Firstly, the method of in situ zinc stearate dispersion is used to prepare the zinc stearatein this method. Zinc acetate and sodium stearate powder will be Reacted in aqueous solutionwith surfactant, leveling agent and a defoaming agent.and we conclude the optimaltechnological condition and Ratio of feed stock for preparing the zinc stearate solution byobserving and studying the types/dosage of surface active agent, HLB value of complexsurfactants respectively, the reaction temperature, high shear reactive speed ratio and the ratioof the main raw material’s Impact on the stability of zinc stearate.at last we conclude thatsolid content should be10%, the reaction temperature should be70oC, the ratio of the mainraw material should be1.05:2, and we choose AEO-9and lauryl sodium sulfate as thedispersing agent, which have a HLB value of19, the amount of3%, the shearing speed of4000r/min,and the effect is excellent. And then zinc stearate is prepared with surfactant-assisted dispersion. The experiment isdone by using zinc stearate powder, emulsifier and deionized water directly, and we get thesol zinc stearate with the means of ultrasonic vibration. Compared with the experiments of zinc stearate in situ dispersion method, the solid content is increased, but due to the zincstearate powder handling unreasonable, the particles of the obtained sample is relatively large. At last, zinc stearate is prepared with basic zinc carbonate and stearic acid, theexperiment is perfomed by stiring the solution in constant temperature,at the same time, glycerin, polyvinyl alcohol, defoamers and other additives are added. single and compositeemulsifier, the ratio of the amount of emulsifier and emulsifier are observed. We concludethat when we use OP-10and AEO-9two emulsifier to do the experiment, the usageofcomposite emulsifier should be5%, the amount of co-emulsifier should be2%, thetemperature should be85oC, the reaction time should be3hours to obtain a good solid contentof22%zinc stearate sol stability.
