Spindle box is an important transmission mechanism of heavy NC machine tools, andhas great influence on machining precision, vibration resistance and working life. The staticand the dynamic characteristics of spindle box are important factors in determining the overallperformance. To understand vibration characteristics of the spindle box, such as naturalfrequency and vibration mode, will avoid the damage due to vibration during use, and lay agood foundation on the structure improvement and the optimization design.In this paper, we take HTC100type CNC lathe spindle box as the research object. Firstly,SolidWorks is used to build the digital modeling of the box and internal components of thespindle box, and the force on the spindle box with the cutting tool in different locations isanalyzed according to the actual working condition. Then, the Static and the dynamiccharacteristics of the spindle box and the harmonic response characteristics of the shaft areanalyzed by using ANSYS Workbench. By analysis, the maximum stress, the maximumdeformation, the vibration form of the spindle box and the harmonic response values of theshaft are obtained, the influence of these factors on the structure is discussed. Secondly, thetopology optimization of the spindle box with the goal of weight loss is carried out under thepremise of not changing the stability of the spindle box. Finally, according to the result ofoptimization the model is rebuilt, the static and the dynamic characteristic is reanalyzed. Themaximum stress, the maximum deformation and the vibration mode of spindle box before andafter the optimization is discussed. The results show that the maximum stress on the spindlebox are far less than the limit stress of the material, safety factor is very high; The low ordernatural frequency of spindle box is much higher than the maximum frequency of shaft inworking, resonance will not occur. The topology optimization method is used to improve thespindle box to reduce its total weight, static characteristic and dynamic characteristic of thespindle box still comply with the design requirements.Through this research, we not only get the static characteristic and dynamic characteristic of HTC100type CNC lathe spindle box, but also put forward the corresponding optimizationscheme, which provides an important reference for the design department to improve otherheavy machine tool.
