The blast furnace is a great equipment in steel production, and also is a great equipment in the entire steel production flow. Its structure is consisted of refractory linings, cooling staves and steel shells. It’s chiefly function is to fill high temperature hot metal and ensure the hot metal flow from side hole. Because inside linings and hot metal physical contact directly, the erosion of linings can not be avoided. And along with work time, this is more and more serious. Security and integrality of blast furnace can be enhanced by replacing or repairing firebrick lining of roof and stack. Lining of blast furnace stress characteristics of the study is important.Scour of hot metal, thermochemical reaction and thermal stress are considered as the major cause for blast furnace hearth erosion. In this paper, Based on the interdisciplinary background, using temperature field model to calculate the thermal stress in designal and operational model of blast furnace, reveals the important causes of "elephant foot" type of erosion. According to Compression experiments in Lanzhou, we obtain the relationship between the stress and strain, then analysis the role of expansion joints in theoretical. The main contents are as follows:1. Based on the steady state model of tapping process and computational model of hearth operational model,. The thermal stresses of hearth designal, and operational model were computed, by taking Baosteel No.4blast furnace hearth for example. Write APDL file in the environment of ANSYS. Through coupled with the velocity and temperature of hot metal, the thermal stress of hearth linings can be researched more factually, using the three-dimensional thermal stress computation model. The result settled foundation for long life hearth design.2. In the course of masonry hearth, ceramic pads and ceramic cups, ceramic cups and carbon bricks will be added with the packing. According to Compression experiments packing obtained the relationship between stress and strain. Taking this relationship into the thermal stress calculation of BF expansion joint, and the results were compared with the previous, the result prove that it is correct to.packing material by non-linear load.3. when we analysis the role of expansion joints, calculate and compeer thermal stress in different degree of ramming, take the relationship between stress and strain into ANSYS,the result re vea Is right degree of ramming of expans ion joint filler, to blast then provide the basis for optimization of Masonry structures.
