Twin-roll thin strip casting is a new technique, however there are still many problems including the processing and facility parameters and it is hard to measure through experiments. So in this paper, a3D coupling finite element method simulation has been carried out.(1) According to the characteristic of the strip casting, an equation combining the turbulent, heat transfer was established. The treatment for key problems such as the solid phase ratio, solidification heat and turbulence viscosity etc have been conducted.(2) Using a three dimensional finite element FLOTRAN CFD analysis theory, a numerical simulation APDL for flow and temperature coupled field was performed. Compared with the measured value, the results showed good agreement by difference lower than1.5%. The result shows that when the pouring temperature is1490℃and1510℃、the liquid height is40°、the nozzle height in molten pool is20mm、the nozzle angle is15°nd20°, the temperature field shows well.(3) A theory of three dimensional thermo-stress coupled finite element analysis of cast rolls was established. Using ANSYS commercial package, a code of three-dimentional finite element analysis for calculating the temperature field, thermal stress were developed. The effects of the casting speed, liquid surface height the cooling water holes and their distribut-ion were given.
