Polymeric ligand exchangers (PLEs) are a kind of resin consist of transition metalions and chelating resins, which have attracted widespread attention due to theiradvantages such as excellent adsorption selectivity for As; high adsorption capacity;could be easily regenerated and good stability. The research content of this articlemainly divides into three parts:(1) PAN and P(AN/IA) were prepared by high internalphase emulsion as template with AN and IA as monomer. AO-PAN and AO-P(AN/IA)chelating resins containing amidoxime were obtained though modified withhydroxylamine, and the AO-P(AN/IA) also containing carboxyl. The structures ofresins were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanningelectron microscope analysis.(2)Adsorption properties of AO-PAN, AO-P(AN/IA) forCu2+and Fe3+are investigated in detail, including effect of pH, dynamics, thermodynamics, etc.(3) AO-PAN/Cu2+, AO-PAN/Fe3+, AO-P(AN/IA)/Cu2+andAO-P(AN/IA)/Fe3+are achieved by coordination reaction of Cu2+and Fe3+withAO-PAN and AO-P(AN/IA) respectively. The structures of resins are characterized byfourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscope analysis. The adsorption properties of the resins for As(III) and As(V) are investigated in details, including effect of pH, dynamics, thermodynamics, interference ions, influence on theperformance, dynamic adsorption. The results show that:(1) According to the scanning electron microscope analysis, all of the AO-PAN, AO-P(AN/IA), AO-PAN/Cu2+, AO-PAN/Fe3+, AO-P(AN/IA)/Cu2+and AO-P(AN/IA)/Fe3+have a porous structure.(2) Pseudo-second-order andLangmuir model could describe the adsorption behavior of AO-P(AN/IA) andAO-PAN for Cu2+and Fe3+. The maximum adsorption capacity of AO-PAN for Cu2+and Fe3+are0.24mmol/g and0.48mmol/g, at the best adsorption pH3and2. Themaximum adsorption capacity of AO-P(AN/IA) for Cu2+and Fe3+are0.39mmol/g and0.74mmol/g, at the best adsorption pH2.(3) Pseudo-second-order and Langmuirmodel can describe the adsorption behavior of AO-PAN/Cu2+, AO-PAN/Fe3+,AO-P(AN/IA)/Cu2+and AO-P(AN/IA)/Fe3+for As(III) and As(V). The maximumadsorption capacity of AO-PAN/Cu2+for As(III) and As(V) were0.32mg/g and0.22mg/g, AO-PAN/Fe3+are0.21mg/g and0.43mg/g; AO-P(AN/IA)/Cu2+are 0.81mg/g and0.63mg/g; and AO-P(AN/IA)/Cu2+are0.30mg/g and0.84mg/g. Allresins can be used as highly selective and reusable materials for the removal.
