Hydrogen storage alloy is the storage and transportation carrier of hydrogen which hasbecome more and more widely in use in high technology field. Research and development onthe properties of hydrogen storage material has became a hot topic. With the widely applicationof hydrogen storage alloy, performance of the hydrogen storage alloy testing equipment isurgently await to develop and innovate. Aim at this requirement, a new type of PCT automaticmeasurement control system is designed. The main work as follows:(1) Hardware structure of PCT testing system is designed. With computer as the core,system uses high precision data acquisition card and relay card to collect test data. Actuatoruses PCI1762relay card and digital output channel of PCI1711U to operate the intermediaterelay. Through the pneumatic-control directional valve, control of the gas circuit is realized.Through K type thermocouple, temperature of the system is measured. LU-960M intelligentapplication apparatus is use as transmitter. Vacuum gauge uses KYKY-ZDF-11A1typecompound as pressure monitor of the whole vacuum system. Four channels synchronizationexperiments are achieved after debug. And test hydrogen absorption and release performanceof hydrogen storage alloys and PCT curve of hydrogen storage alloys are achieved.(2) PCT controlling system is designed and developed by C language in Microsoft VisualC++6.0environment. Through the software test of process programming, the automaticcontrol of testing process, system calibration, display of hydrogen absorption and releasecurve, real-time automatic collect and classified storage of experimental data are achieved.(3) A series of LaNi5alloys are used as sample for testing material. Hydrogen absorptionand release curvesofLaNi5storage alloy are analyzed in detail. The curve shows characteristicof each stage of LaNi5alloy completely.A large number of testing data prove that the platform of PCT curve is clear and complete,test result is reliable. The PCT measurement control system complete the testing process ofhydrogen absorption and release testing curve of hydrogen storage alloy exactly and quickly. Itis a reasonable design of the system which performance stable and trustable. This equipment isa reliable tool to study the performance of hydrogen storage alloy material.
