In recent years, with the rapid development of the petrochemical industry, requirements for the process optimization become increasingly stringent, the traditional process simulation software has been unable to meet the needs of development.However, real-time optimization technology which is combined with control technology is able to calculate the optimum operating parameters of the plant according to the actual data.Real-time optimization technology can make the plant in a best operation status which can bring more benefits and there is no need to make much reform.Ethylene industry has a pivotal position in the chemical industry.Therefore, there will be a large domestic ethylene plant as the research background in this paper.In the ethylene process,cracking unit is the most important reaction area,the composition of cracking gas directly affect the yield of the product as well as the economic accounting;the quench area is the bridge of the cracking area and the compression section,it takes the tasks of initial separation and cooling. So, this article will take ethylene cracking and quench unit as the main object of study.Real-time optimization technology supports functions of off-line analysis, data reconciliation and optimization. Rigorous process simulation model and estimate is the basis for real-time optimization.So in this paper, a rigorous simulation model of ethylene cracking furnace and quench area will be established based on an advanced real-time optimization software.Then,this paper will analysis the simulation results combining with PFD data.After making sure the model is correct,this paper will use the model in the data reconciliation mode to narrow the deviation between the model value and actual value.Meanwhile,the report of data reconciliation will list the bad instrument and stream,which can give guidance for plant improvementsA better rigorous process simulation model and estimate will offer a better guide for the production and a better basis for the optimization mode.
