In recent years, research on reliability of machining center is a hot issue. As manufacturing base, machining centers play a great role in the development of national industry. With improvement of manufacturing level, the performance is not only machining precision, but also reliability are regarded as a key factor. The reliability of national machining center has been regarded as the main problem needed to improve.In order to decrease and predict the damage of early failures, the failure datas of26machining centers were collected. Depending on the failure data, and taking this as the foundation, changing trend was prediected, the early failure and random failure period was analysised. The weak parts were found out. It was a practical significance to improve the reliability of machining center.Three models involving two weibull distributions were studied. Depending on comparing the plots on Weibull plotting paper (WPP), the sectional model is selected as the best one to model the failure data. A new method of calculating parameters is introduced, which is useful to avoid the error of demarcation time selection and improve the accuracy of fitting. It can be calculated that earlier failure period is about4months, which is coincident with the consumer feedback. D test method and Laplace test method was used to examine the model, and the results validated the sectional model. The failure of multiple components, multiple fault reasons, and the fault model and hazard analysis of electrical system for the calculation of fault criticality were studied. The early failure processing center and random failure period fault distribution characteristics were researched. It is necessary to develop targeted repair strategies depending on different periods. It is helpful for machining center production reliability research and guidance.Fault data acquisition and reliability assessment system has been designed by using the technology of connection of VB and Matlab. The system includes fault entry module system, fault classification statistic module, pretreatment module and curve fitting module fault data. The system r has the advantages of simple and convenient. It is useful software to improve work efficiency and saves a lot of manpower.
