Organic/inorganic layered perovskite hybrids represent a new class of functionalmaterials through combining the useful characters of organic and inorganic compounds withinthe crystalline molecular level and have unique electronic, optical and magnetic properties. The most useful access to synthesize this type of hybrid is solvent evaporation, but can notobtain the perovskite based on Ni(II), so the low temperature solid state reaction wereattempted to synthesize. The low temperature solid state reaction were attempted to prepare the organic/inorganichybrids based on Ni(II) by using CnH2n+1NH2(n=4,6,8,12) and NiCl2·6H2O、NiBr2、NiI2asthe raw materials. All the crystal structure of products were characterized by X-ray diffraction, otherwise, the properties of the synthesized compounds only with obvious layered structurewere further characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-vis spectra and thermogravimetric.Three layered organic/inorganic hybrid materials,(C4H9NH3)2NiCl4,(C8H17NH3)2NiCl4and (C12H25NH3)2NiCl4(different carbon chain length), were prepared by a low temperaturesolid reaction. Law of different organic carbon chain lengths influence on the the crystalstructure, optical properties and thermogravimetric properties of the hybrid perovskitematerials were systematic analyzed and discussed. The research found that all the productshave obvious layered structure and highly orient with the c-axis perpendicular to thesubstance. The crystall structure of (CnH2n+1NH3)2NiCl4(n=4,8,12) can be indexed asmonoclinic system, hexagonal system and orthorhombic system and the d value are16.21,23.40and30.33, respectively. The research also found that extending of carbon chaincause a slight red-shift in the visible region, in addition, the thermal stability heighten. Follow the above research, we fabricated two series hybrids perovskite,(C8H17NH3)2NiCl4,(C8H17NH3)2NiBr2Cl2,(C8H17NH3)2NiBr4and (C12H25NH3)2NiCl4,(C12H25NH3)2NiBr4, and studied the influence of changes of halogen ion on the performanceof hybrids perovskite. In the two series of coupounds, the UV-vis spectra and the thermalstability change with the variation from Cl-to Br-, but the crystal structure remain invariant.
