Study On Domestic T700Carbon Fiber/Epoxy Composites Fabricated By Vacuum Infusion Molding Process

In this study, domestic T700carbon fiber fabric, Toray T700carbon fiber fabric, Toho T700carbon fiber fabrics were used as reinforcement, LT5078A/LT5078B-1as resin matrix, the composites were fabricated by vacuum infusion molding process. The optimize of molding infusion temperature, architecture of carbon fiber fabrics, layer number of carbon fiber fabrics were carried out, and the tensile strength and flexural strength of the composites were compared. Weather ability of the CFRP is tested. A suitable composite is acquired. CFRP helmets with complex artifacts were fabricated.(1) Influence of architecture of carbon fiber fabrics and the layer number of fabrics on the permeability were studied, and mold temperature on the void content was investigated. The results showed plain weave architecture had the largest permeability, increasing of the layers lead to decreased permeability of the reinforcement which may cause low infusion efficiency. Relative low mold temperature, which is20degree in this study, can produce a VIMP part with a low void content ranging from0.8%to2.2%.(2) Resin matrices and carbon fiber fabrics were compared separately by their tensile and bending properties. LT5078A/LT5078B-1is a resin system with good wettability to the carbon fibers which give rise to CFRP performance. The T700carbon fiber fabric of Sinofibers technology possesses the best mechanical performance of the five selected carbon fiber fabrics. The tensile strength of the CFRP reinforced with Sinofibers technology T700carbon fiber fabric is835MPa, and the flexural strength is770MPa. The axial direction grooves on the surface of carbon fiber enlarge the specific area which enhanced mechanical bonding with resin matrix and form good interface.(3) CFRPs with well weather ability, which LT5078A/LT5078B-1as the resin matrix and sinofibers technology T700carbon fiber plain weave fabric as the reinforcement, were fabricated via VIMP. The seawater immersion test sunlight irradiation test and salt fog test were used to simulate weathering corrosion to CFRPs with a duration of35days,25days and10days, respectively. Then the mechanical properties of aged samples were tested, the results showed that the strength retention after35days of seawater immersion,25days of irradiation,10days of salt fog is88.0%,87.4%and88.7%, which can meet the requirement for application.(4) CFRP helmets were manufactured with VIMP, the light weight helmets possess good impact resistance, which meets the demand of the application.
