Since the mechanical coal mining, crushing type are the main coal breakingmethod, making the drop coal into powder because of the changed method, andcrushed coal drop means tremendous energy. The paper presents a new mechanicalcoal breaking type: the cutting type which the drum type shearer is changed to thedisc saw type, use the rotary saw to cut the coal wall, resulting the mechanicalbreaking coal lump rate greatly improved, and at the same time reduced the energy,and the damage to coal wall and roof is also reduced. In the subject the experimentalresearch, numerical simulation and analysis of calculation method are quoted to studythe coal breaking mechanism of the disc saw shearer, revealing the sawing type coalmining machine’s sawing structure and tooth parameters and the relationship amongbreaking efficiency, lump coal rate, stress state, the effect of energy saving andimproving the stability of the coal wall and roof; It also clarified the coal breakingmechanism, the model of force and the breaking model.The conclusion of the study:⑴It would prove a scientific basis for mining of the new mechanical method;⑵With little breaking process, the lump coal rate by using this cutting methodis improved by more than30%;⑶The cutting area of the disc saw machine is equivalent20%to any other coalmining method, and the mining working resistances are small, so the mining energyconsumption can be greatly reduced;⑷because the saw cutting coal breaking pattern forced mild, on the coal miningface and gateway surrounding rock the mining force influence is small. This isconducive to the coal mining face support and the surrounding rock control;⑸Saw cutting coal mining technology has the advantages of simple structure,convenient operation, low cost, and high mechanical efficiency, so the thin coal seammining has the technical feasibility and economic rationality.
