Chlorinated organic compounds have been used on a large scale inpetrochemical, chemical, and electronic industries. Those compounds are widespreadenvironmental contaminants. Those compounds have been receiving increasingconcern for which had a great threat to human health and could cause seriousenvironmental pollution due to their high toxity and low degradability. In recentyears, the catalytic hydrodechlorination (HDC) has received more and more attentionbecause it is simple, effective and safe. In the field of heterogeneous reactions, carbon materials have been used as catalyst supports to disperse and stabilize metalnanoparticles because of their outstanding properties, such as high chemical stability, excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, possible to have various pores and nontoxic, etc. In this thesis, liquid phase hydrodechlorination of chlorobenzene wasstudied over carbon materials supported platinum catalysts.Firstly, colloidal platinum nanoparticles were first prepared and then adsorptedto active cabrons (AC). Liquid phase hydrodechlorination of chlorobenzene wassutdied over Pt/active carbon (Pt/AC). The effects of surface structure and chemistryenvironment were discussed on the reaction rates and the catalyst activity in details. The effects of the chemical modification of activated carbon on the dechlorinationand the catalyst activity were also described. The complete hydrodechlorination ofchlorobenzene was realized at298K on Pt/AC under hydrogen atmosphere of0.1MPa. The stability of Pt/AC catalysts was studied, and the catalysts could besustainable for four circle under the standard reaction condition and exhibitedexcellent stable properties. Secondly, liquid phase hydrodechlorination of chlorobenzene was studied over Pt/carbon nanotube. The effects of alcohols solvent, polar aprotic solvents and properties of support on the properties of the catalysts inhydrodechlorination reaction were investigated. The complete hydrodechlorinationof chlorobenzene was realized at298K on carbon nanotube supported Platinumnanocatalysts under hydrogen atmosphere of0.1MPa. It suggested that the HDCrate increased with the solvent nonpolarity increasing. The catalyst was circularlyused for4times under the standard reaction condition and exhibited stable properties. Finally, colloidal platinum nanoparticles were first prepared and then adsorpted tothe graphene oxide carrier. The main product of the hydrodechlorination reactionover the catalysts is benzene under mild reaction conditions (298K,0.1MPa).Inactivation mechanism and catalyst stability were also investigated in the reactions.
