The parallel mechanism has a lot of advantages, such as high precision, high speed and high stiffness, it can be used to process, measure, assemble, material handle, etc. Therefore, parallel machine tool is an important part of machine tool industry, it has a broad application prospect. The novel hybrid machine tool studied in this paper is based on a tripod parallel universal wrist and a biglide parallel machine tool, it is a multi-function machine which can be used as drilling, miling, boring, grinding, tool grinding, etc. According to different processing requirements, end actuator can be replaced. This dissertation applies the virtual prototype technique on hybrid machine tool, analyzes and simulates its key techniques such as kinemics, workspace, dynamics and rigid-flexible. Detail as follows:(1) This paper introduces development histroy and trend of parallel machine tool, and discusses the development and trend of virsual prototype technique and its application in engineering.(2) Based on the structure of hybrid machine tool, position analysis is woked out. A3D model is drawn by using Pro/E, and the virsual prototype is established in ADAMS. Direct kinemic problem and inverse kinemic problem is simulated and the simulation curve is obtaimed.(3) The thought for resolving workspace by virtual prototype technique is put forward, and the3D graphics of workspace are got, also the effect of structure parameters on workspace. Based on virsual prototype technique, the graph of workspace based on different biglide parallel rods and tripod parallel rods are got and compared.(4) Using Lagrange equation, the dynamic model of hybrid machine tool is got, and the dynamic simulation is done in the virsual prototype environment. The gragh of relationship between displacement, velocity, acceleration and driving force is obtaimed.(5) The flexible biglide parallel rod is drawn in ANSYS, and the MNF (Modal Neutral File) is imported to ADAMS, then the rigid-flexible model is done. Through milling error simulation, the error curve is got, and by importing the load file to ANSYS, the deformation of flexible biglide parallel rod is obtaimed.
