With the development of science and technology and the escalation of people’s living standard, the requirements for glass products are not only the increments of quantity, but also quality and grade. The annealing process of glass is an important segment in glass production process. It will affect directly the quality of glass products. How to improve the performance index of glass annealing lehr and the annealing quality of glass, and reduce energy consumption causes wide attention.Based on the theory and technology of glass annealing, this paper borrowed ideas from the domestic and foreign design experience on glass annealing lehr, and made some relative heat engineering calculations, then worked out a design scheme on glass annealing lehr. Numerical simulation was conducted on the glass annealing lehr by using software Fluent. The regularities of temperature and velocity distribution of the glass annealing lehr were analyzed. To improve the furnace temperature uniformity, further optimizing the furnace structure was structure. The main work included:(1) Based on the theory and technology of glass annealing, annealing temperature and annealing curve of the glass were made. Then the structure parameters and process parameters of glass annealing lehr were fixed. So a design scheme on glass annealing lehr were finished.(2) A three-dimensional physical model of the glass annealing lehr was established. Numerical simulation was conducted on the glass annealing lehr by using software Fluent. The temperature and velocity distribution of the glass annealing lehr were obtained. The results showed that temperature difference along the glass area in heating zone and holding zone was IK. It met the technological requirements. While temperature difference in the slow cooling zoon and fast cooling zoon was3-10K. The furnace temperature uniformity needed to be raised. High-speed airflow located in the top of the furnace chamber flowed down the runner on either side, then flow into the workspace toward the glass products by the guide plate on the bottom of the furnace chamber. The airflow accelerated upwards under the action of the fan. A cycle from top to bottom then upward was formed. However, the flow into the workspace was unevenly distributed. Some area appeared eddy. It affected the liquidity(3)To improve the furnace temperature uniformity, the furnace structure was optimized from two aspects, and the results was compared and analyzed. Firstly, the mash vents of the guide plate were changed to the baffles that are30degree from the horizontal. Secondly, the comparison of the influences of three different arrangements of cold air inlet on the furnace temperature uniformity were made.
