Based on occurrence conditions of thick and hard roof of large mining height (large mining height, thick hard), the paper studied control of thick and hard roof of large mining height aand support working resistance by theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and field measurement. The results showed that:Through the analysis of the geological conditions, forced caving technology was used on thick hard roof of large mining height to weaken the roof structure, which makes thick hard roof strata more easily fall in the gob. It effectively shortens the periodic roof pressure interval, reduces the roof weighting intensity, and thick hard roof is under control.By using FLAC3D simulation software, it established the model to study on Vertical stress, vertical displacement and plastic zone change characteristic of thick hard roof working face of large mining height.Based on forced caving technology of thick hard roof working face of large mining height, characteristics of the roof weighting and conditions of displacement of roof and floor of two roadways is analyzed. by field observations.Based on measured data, the adaptability of roof is analyzed and roof control measures is concluded.
