The aerosol optical properties was studied in this paper by analyzing the observation data from the2008international Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) program’s Mobile Facility (AMF) at ShouXian, China. The main conclusions were as follows:(1) Aerosol optical properties in the surface layer:the absorption coefficient and the scattering coefficient was larger affected by the special weather from May to June. In the summer, because atmospheric diffusion function got strength, it was good for the dilution and diffusion of aerosol and the absorption coefficient and the scattering coefficient decreased obviously. Due to the burning of straw, the scattering coefficient in autumn was greater than that in summer. Single scattering albedo was slightly low compared with other results.7.5%of the days, the daily average of Angstrom wavelength index were less than2and the proportion of coarse particles was relatively larger.(2) The vertical distribution characteristics of aerosol extinction coefficient:in the morning, the height of boundary layer was low and the extinction coefficient was bigger within the boundary layer. The atmospheric diffusion was strength during the day and the height of boundary layer rose till the evening. The height of boundary layer reduced at night and the maximum value appeared in the surface layer. Due to the atmospheric stability was poor and the aerosol distribution is homogeneous within the boundary layer in July and August. The extinction coefficient is bigger in September and October because of the pollution. In November and December, because of less affected by the heat, extinction coefficient was linear change. The aerosol optical depth (AOD) was little during the day than night and autumn is larger than the summer and winter.(3) The optical properties of dust aerosol:the average value of aerosol extinction coefficient is0.1km-1in the atmospheric boundary layer. When the pollution is serious in surface layer, the maximum extinction coefficient reaches1.1km-1. In addition, the minimum average value of Angstrom wavelength index (a) is0.21on May28th. The maximum average value of single scattering albedo (coo) is0.888on May29th.(4) Optical property of pollutanted aerosol:average aerosol extinction coefficient reached about0.1km-1within the boundary layer which also lifted up to2km, and could even higher than0.lkm-1during a period at each boundary layer level. Several high peak of AOD were0.45,0.55,0.6,0.9,0.75, and average value could up to0.31.Turbidity index and Backscatter ratio became large accordingly, proving that fine particle content was more in pollutanted aerosol.
