In recent years, many countries in order to improve the rate of shell fragments andproposed to change the properties of shells material of program, which pre-fragmentation andmechanical groove of these two methods is more common, but the cost of these two methodsis relatively high and prefabricated fragments enormous depletion national strategic reserve, itis necessary to improve the current shells processing.This subject proposed use of laser quenching, plasma quenching and TIG quenchingmethods, processing different densities brittle belt with network on projectile shells surface,shells will crack preferentially in the explosion, thus it will achieve controllable fragmentswith uniform quality and regular shape, instead of the original processing methods, and do thewhole specimen quenching comparison.In the experiment,40Cr,50SiMnVB,58SiMn three materials processed into a sheet testpiece, using the above methods respectively processing different density of brittle belt withnetwork, carries on the impact crushing experiment, results show that: little effect on densityof brittle belt for specimen fracture,but whether processing brittle belt effect on impactresults significantly. On the whole, Three vertical and three horizontal type brittle belt becauseof high rate of broken fragments and need smaller energy, so the broken result is the best;material factors are more significant effect on the fracture of the specimen, but still not asgood as whether the processing effect of brittle belt significantly.ANSYS finite elementanalysis software with the conclusions as follows: that is different from brittle belt offsets anddensity is not significant on the effect of broken parts, basically consistent with theexperimental results.Analyze embitterment mechanism of the brittle belt by SEM and EDAX, the results showthat: with three kinds of processing method for processed brittle belt generated embittermentstructure on a certain depth range surface, and no component loss and aggregation,accompanied by a small amount of micro-cracks. Also use micro-hardness of the hardness ofbrittle belt measure, the results showed that: brittle belt hardness was improved obviouslycompared with the matrix. Based on the above analysis and experimental results obtained optimal machining program: using laser method processing brittle belt, processing speed is20mm/s, power500W, brittle belt type is three horizontal and three vertical.
