The Snthesis Of2-phenylcyclohexanethiol And It’s Hdrodesulfurization Over Bulk Metal Phosphide Catalysts

Cis2-phenylcyclohexanethiol (cis2-PCHT) was synthesized from1-phenylcyclohexene(CHEB-1) and thioacetic acid by the free radical addition. It’s structure was confirmed by1H NMR,13C NMR,1H-1H COSY,13C-1H COSY and GC-MS. Transition metal phosphide catalysts were repared by co-precipitation followed by in situ temperature-programmed reduction with H2. Their structures were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD). The hdrodesulfurization of cis2-PCHT was carried out over bulk metal phosphide catalysts, and the influence of H2S was also studied by adding dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) and CS2to the feed. According to the results, The C-S bond cleavage mechanism was discussed over bulk metal phosphide catalysts.The hdrodesulfurization of cis2-PCHT over bulk metal phosphide catalysts occurred via hydrogenolysis and β-elimination. The hydrogenolysis of2-PCHT yields cyclohexylbenzene (CHB), whereas P-elimination produces both1-cyclohexen-1-yl-benzene (CHEB-1) and2-cyclohexen-1-yl-benzene (CHEB-2). Cis2-PCHT underwent desulfurization mainly through β-elimination, and the hydrogen attached to carbon atom C(6) is more easily removed than that attached to carbon atom C(2).CS2and DMDS showed a negative influence on the conversion of2-PCHT, and their inhibitory effect on β-elimination was greater than that on hydrogenolysis. CS2is a better H2S source for HDS studies than DMDS due to its lower reactivity with thiols or their desulfurized products. Nevertheless, part of the nickel species in M2P can be converted to nickel sulfides in the presence of CS2.
