Zinc oxide (ZnO) is an important semiconductor material with direct band gap. The band gap of ZnO is3.37eV and exciton binding energy is60meV. The physical and chemical properties of ZnO are also wonderful. These excellent properties make ZnO materials have great potential in wide range of applications, such as optical-electric devices, short wavelength light emitting devices, gas sensor devices, piezoelectricity sensor and so on. One-dimensional ZnO materials have advantages of high aspect ratio, large area of surface, high electronic mobility, active chemistry properties, etc. So ZnO one-dimensional materials found to be highly suitable for applications for optical detection, optical-catalysis, field emitter in flat panel displays, etc. However, the native properties of ZnO nanostructures can not meet the requirements of all the devices. So people want to get some composite materials by modifying ZnO nanostructures with noble metals. The modification will improve the related abilities of ZnO nanostructures.This thesis focus on the growth conditions of ZnO nanotips by the method of hydrothermal solution. And then the ZnO nanowires would be modified by Ag. The major content of working and conclusions are as follows:(1) We mainly research of developing ZnO nanotips is the influence about the temperature to prepare the solution. The results indicate that it is easier to get ZnO nanotips by using low temperature water to prepare the solution.(2) We modified the ZnO nanowires without nanotips by silver, The modification method is vacuum thermal evaporator. The related properties of ZnO nanowires witch modified by Ag are characterized. The results reveal that when the structure of Ag is nanoparticles, the ability of absorption will enhance. The field emission property will improve at the same time.
