Corroles were first synthetized by Johnson and Kay in early1960s. However, in sharp contrast to the extensive utilization of porphyrins as key components in numerous applications, advantageous utilization of corroles in any field was not reported in the next thirty years. A new and exciting era started in1999, when two facile methodologies for the preparation of corrole derivatives with aryl groups on the three meso-carbon atoms (5,10,15-triarylcorroles) were reported. Additional synthetic methodologies were soon developed and led to the current stage. Hundreds of new triarylcorrole derivatives were reported in the last decade, including a large variety of corrole-metal complexes and water-soluble derivatives with both negatively and positively charged head groups.As one carbon shorter analogue of porphyrins, corroles contain three "pyrrole-type" hydrogens and a direct pyrrole-pyrrole link in the molecular skeleton. The inner core contains three NH protons. Similar to porphyrins, the meso-carbon atoms are very reactive in general, and particularly most sensitive to oxidation. The meso-substituted derivatives of both macrocycles are hence much more stable and robust. The synthetic developments were immediately accompanied by the utilization of corroles and the corresponding metal complex in many applications, starting with catalysis (first example in1999) and moving towards sensors, solar cells, medicine-oriented research, PDT and nonlinear optical material. Scientists in many countries are interested in the corrole complexes, a number of important research results has been made.In this paper we synthesized kinds of corroles with different substituent group by modified Lindsey method, including5,10,15-triaryl-tetrabicyclo[2.2.2]octadiene-corrole态5,10,15-triaryl-2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-hexaethylcorrole and5,10,15-triaryl-tetrabenzo-corrole. All of the products were characterized by1HNMR and UV-vis. A corrole with pyrene was obtained. The Effect of C60to fluorescence spectrum of corrole in certain excitation wavelength was researched. The results show that the compoud can be used as a fluorescent probe for detecting of C60.Also a new iridium corrole complex was obtained. The efficiency of the generation of singlet oxygen were tested, with a near infrared laser as light source. And more tests were made to research the effect of photodynamic therapy in the HeLa cells with MTT assays and Confocal fluorescence. The result revealed that the complex can be used to treat cancer tumor as photosensitizer.
