Liquid paraffin is the Mixture of n-alkanes which have The number of carbon atomsbetween6and20and the melting point below40℃.The character is a colorless transparentoily liquid, no significant fluorescence was observed under the sunlight. It is odorless andtasteless at room temperature, and a slight smell of oil after heating. Generally known as the C6~C14light liquid paraffin, and the C14-C20weight liquid paraffin. It is an important chemicalproducts used for food additives, feed protein, surfactant, detergent, lubricant additives, oilfield chemicals, phase change materials and so on.Liquid paraffin is usually obtained from the diesel oil with urea dewaxing or molecularsieve dewaxing. But the liquid paraffin which is obtained from this technology has low rate ofstraight-chain and purity, and contains aromatics, basic nitrogen, sulfur and other impurities. Moreover it has a greater impact for the property of further processing to produce otherchemical products. In this paper, we discussed preparing liquid paraffin by FCChydrodeoxygenation with the fatty acid methyl esters as raw materials, prepared anappropriate catalyst for this reaction, and find a suitable reaction process. Main tasks are asfollows:1. We discussed the preparation of Ni-W/γ-Al2O3catalysts and it’s catalytic properties, inspected the influence of preparation method, catalyst activation temperature, content ofactive component and additives to catalytic properties. We found the suitable preparationmethods was synchronous impregnation and the suitable activation temperature was450℃.2. We prepared the Ni/γ-Al2O3catalysts and evaluated the catalytic properties, inspectedthe influence of active component content and reaction temperature to catalytic properties.3. we voluntarily developed Ni/NiAl2O4catalysts and inspected the influence of carriercalcination temperature, Ni content of carrier, Ni content of active component to catalyticproperties. We found the suitable carrier calcination temperature was540℃,and the suitableNi content of carrier, Ni content of active component were10%and20%.And we got a100%selectivity of n-alkanes at these catalyst conditions.4. We researched the process conditions Ni/NiAl2O4catalysts, and found the optimalhydrogenation conditions: Reaction temperature400℃,Reaction hydrogen pressure5.0MPa, Reaction WHSV1.0h-1,Reaction hydrogen/oil mole ratio15.56:1.We got a conversion rateof fatty acid methyl esters at98.9%and a100%selectivity of n-alkanes at these processconditions.5. Further modified of the existing carrier with Mg,Zr,Ce,Sr was executed. And weanalyzed the reasons for changes in catalytic properties after carrier modified.
