Pulverized coal injection into blast furnace is a great improvement in the process of iron-making technology because of reducing costs and adjusting the furnace condition. As the development of Blast furnace pulverized coal injection,the research in combustion performance of pulverized coal inside the blast furnace is paid more attention. A large amount of unburned coal powder accumulated in furnace will reduce permeability and liquid permeability of stock column. Therefore, analyse the pulverized coal flow and combustion in the tuyere and raceway accurately and reliably is a new way to optimize coal injection process. And comprehensive understanding of the aerodynamic and physicochemicalbehaviors of pulverized coal combustion through numerical simulation is helpful for intensifying the pulverized coal combustion and improving PCI rate.Based on the actual production conditions and features of the coal injection process, a comprehensive model was developed with Euler-Lagrange methoddescribing the gas-particle flow and standard k-model, species transport model,P-1radiation, Two-Competing-Reactions model, Eddy-Dissipation model, Kinetics/Diffusion-limited model were used to numerical simulation of pulverized coalcombustion process. The research results showed as follows: the complete combustion reaction of coal was in dominant position in front of tuyere, on theedge of raceway, the main reaction was the incomplete combustion reaction ofcoal. In the same time, the effect of oxygen enrichment, bituminous coal ratioand size distribution of blended coal on the coal combustion process were studied. The research results above could provide the theoretical basis for optimizing smelt operation in practice production.
