Wrench moment shaft clutch is one of motor protection devices inshearer cutting unit, which will transmit power, absorb vibration, andplay the role of overload protection in the cutting process. Scientific andrational design of Wrench moment shaft is of great significance toimprove the mining efficiency and reduce the cost. As a key part in theshearer cutting unit, there is a considerable demand of wrench momentshaft in the minging process. In the past, Wrench moment shaft relied onimports mainly, as a result, the price is always controlled by others and alot of investment is needed. Therefore, the localization of wrenchmoment shaft is of great significance.In order to realize the localization of wrench moment shaft, anumber of institutions and researchers analyzed and studied on thematerial, design of parameters and heat treatment process. However, it’sstill lack a scientific design method in calculating the stress at the notchand determining the fracture criterion, which make the homemadeproducts still lags behind the imported wrench moment shaft.By analyzing the structural characteristics and state of stress, thispaper points out the limitations in using theories of Mechanics of torsion tests, as the boundary conditions that applied on the model. Byanalysis of the results, a fracture criterion is determined. Dynamic loadfactors were also considered. This paper provides experimental data andreference for the designing of wrench moment shaft in the future.
