PBT as a kind of polyester which is industrialization in China is widely used in project plastic and fiber because of its excellent general performance.However,its low measure stability limited its application.PC is one of the widely used polyester which developed very fast in recent years,but as fiber,it hasn’t been heard.Due to the comparability in configuration of PBT and PC,it is expected that a type of novel polyester fiber with better general performance than PBT fiber could be obtained by blending PBT and PC together.So it is significant and valuable to study on the system of PBT/PC blends.In this paper,SEM,DSC,WAXD,POM,Cone-plate rheometer and TGA were used to research on the compatibility,crystalline behavior,rheological property and thermal stability of PBT/PC blends,alloy fiber were then prepared based on the data, and its general mechanical properties and recovery were finally measured and discussed.The results are as follows:SEM,DSC and WAXD results showed that PBT/PC blends were partly compatible in amorphous region and crystal region.T_g values and the cold crystallizability of the blends predicted the heat roller temperature to be around 75℃lower 60-70℃than the heat board temperature when drawing the spun-fiber.T_m values of PBT and PC were so close which indicated that the spinning process might be easy to control,with the predicted spinning temperature of 250-300℃.Melt crystallization behavior,crystal morphology and crystallization kinetics for PBT/PC blends were studied via DSC and POM methods.The results indicated that the adding of PC could restrain the crystallization of PBT,and both homogeneous nucleation and heterogeneous nucleation existed.The rheological behavior of the blends indicated that the blends have good fluid in given shear frequency and temperature.With the temperature increasing,the viscous fell distinctly,especially in 290℃.In the same shear frequency and temperature,the dynamic viscosity fell with the increasing of PBT content which improved process of PC.The TGA analysis showed that the blends had a good thermal stability in large-scale temperature(0-360℃).PBT/PC blends behaved excellent melt spinnability.It can be found that,the stretchability of the fiber improved when PC content was 30%.The initialization moduli of alloy fiber were higher than pure PBT fiber it can also be observed that the dimensional stability was improved.When 15%of test elongation was set during the recovery measurement,the alloy fibers with PC content 30%behaved better recovery than pure PBT fiber,then the recovery first fell and then grew with PC content increasing.The measurement of blends mechanical properties showed that PC content improved rigidity and increased heat deflection temperature of the blends.
