Research On Inter-organizational Business Collaborations Oriented Role Network Model

The business collaborations of organizations are much more frequent and close than before, as the changing competitive environment and the developing Web technologies. Currently, more business processes are crossing the enterprise boundaries. And it has become the developing basis for enterprises. While, as the dynamic and uncertain characteristics of inter-organizational business processes the current related research are far less satisfied in process modeling and analysis methodology.Those organizations which involved in inter-organizational business processes are large in quantity and scale, thus the process should be checked and analyzed before they put into practice, so as to make sure the processes are scientific and reliable. The RNM (Role Network Model) which reflects the nature of the inter-organizational business collaborations supports flexible control, while not enough in the aspect of structural modeling and analysis methodology in business process especially in dynamic business processes.Based on BMP framework, and combining RNM and Pi calculus method, this paper build the IOBCORNM (Inter-organizational Business Collaborations Oriented Role Network Model), as well as the role checking and reachability analysis.The main contents in this paper are as follows:(1)Inter-organizational relationships analysis, inter-organizational business collaborations classification, and the characteristics of inter-organizational business processes summarization.(2) Based on BPM framework, IOBCORNM, including IOBCORM (Inter-organizational Business Collaborations Oriented Role Model) and IORNM (Inter-organizational Role Network Model) which is structural modeling technique for inter-organizational business process is provided by combining role network theory and Pi calculus, and also an application of this model into a real case.(3) The role checking and reachability analysis methodologies are presented based on IOBCORNM according to a real case study, which can ensure the accuracy of the model and the reliability of process execution.This paper expands RNM and takes a big step in the description and analysis of business process especially dynamic business process, which has significant rhetorical guiding meaning in inter-organizational business processes modeling, flexible control, and process analysis, and also practical values in information systems development related with inter-organizational business collaborations.
