The Study On The Impact Of Team Diversity On Team Performance

Increasingly fierce global competition makes organizations today face a rapidly changing environment impact, enabling employees to work as a team and make the concept steadily, and how best to use the team becomes the key to make organizations keep the competitive advantage. The increasingly diverse team members make the inevitable conflict and finally impact on team performance. Some scholars have shown that task conflict on team performance occurred beneficial and relationship conflict on team performance occurred adversely. Weather the difference between the team members will lead to both conflict and effect on team performance is the focus of this paper.In this paper, team performance is the selected measure objection, through the 220 valid questionnaires in 47 teams, through the conflict as a mediator to investigate its effect on team performance. The study shows that:(1) The higher education level of diversification, the higher task conflict and higher team performance; (2) The higher professional backgrounds of diversification, the higher task conflict and higher team performance; (3) The higher multiple values of diversification, the higher relationship conflict and lower team performance. According to the study, some suggestions were given about how to improve the team performance, which will be beneficial for both the theory and practice of management in enterprises. In practice, enterprises should pay attention to the task by increasing conflict, reducing relationship conflict to improve team performance. Also, the company formed to consider options in a team composed of higher levels of education and professional background diversity, lower multiple values of diversification.
