The automotive industry, which contains a bunch of values, involves hundreds of industry and has an unthinkable length of value chain, is an important industry for international competition among countries. For these reasons, many countries have given their strategic automotive industry attention and support. Automobile industry in China also plays a decisive role, which the Chinese government has been committed to it playing a pillar in our national economy industries. From the beginning of this century, the development of China's auto market has caught the world auto giant's attention. Especially after 2008, the general downturn in the developed countries the case of the automotive market, China's auto market is to achieve a high speed blowout growth, China has become a haven for global auto giant. High-growth partly covers up a brutal competition and the defects of China's auto industry, it allow the performance of the domestic automobile manufacturers and international experience with automotive giant leap forward. However, in the good times to stay awake to make up deficiencies in the development, improve competitiveness, long-term development of the domestic auto industry is an inevitable strategic choice.Value chain analysis is a common method which used to analyze an industry or an enterprise by the academic and business sectors, it is also used in this essay to explore and express the situation in domestic and international automotive industry, the difference between the distinct car companies, and how to improve the competitive advantage of business and industry. In the essay, value chain, vertical and horizontal value chains, global value chains are listed and used, which act as a framework to analyses the automotive enterprise, the automotive industry, competitors, global division of labor and the competitive situation, and showing a vivid picture of the global automotive industry. At the same time, the author made use of the above four value chain analysis of the situation of China's automobile industry, and find the defects of the automobile industry and the possible development.Starting point of this article is not comprehensive, but focusing on one aspect, because any mature content of the theory and model to get such a wealth of automotive industry will have its uses, and for the personal ability, the integrated use of these theories may be brings contradictions and conflicts, if so, the answer will go away. I hope this effect can be achieved, which I called it "seeing the whole world in a drop of water".In the part of conclusion, the authors proposed some suggestion such as strengthen the ability of strategic alliance management in domestic auto companies, improving the industrial concentration of auto, and enhancing the competitive advantage of auto parts companies etc, which I hope to make some modest means for the development of Chinese automobile industry by them.
