It has been five years since Chinese banking sector opened up the full implementation of commitments. Foreign banks have the overall development in China, both the number of institutions, asset size and market share are growing rapidly. Foreign banks not only brought advanced management experience and a new concept of financial services, but also impact the banks and financial stability of China, and brought new challenges for financial supervisions. In 2008 the U.S. sub-prime mortgage crisis has caused global financial crisis, which has caused governments to the supervision of foreign banks re-think. In this context, it's is a certain practical and academic significance that through analyzing the current condition of supervision of foreign banks in China. This paper describes the theory of foreign bank supervision, and analyzes the status of foreign banks in China, and gives some advice which is based on foreign experiences and new ideas of international regulation after U.S. sub-prime mortgage crisis.This paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter generalizes and summaries the research status of supervision of foreign banks, which is the basic of this paper. Chapter two introduces the economic theory for supervision of foreign banks, including the substance and historical development. In chapter three, through analyzing the development and regulatory status of foreign banks in China to try to find out the practical problems in supervision and the need to strengthen the supervision of foreign banks in China. Chapter five compares the practice of foreign bank supervision on foreign countries with the main line of the content of the supervision of foreign banks to learning from successful practices in different countries. The last chapter base on the bank's supervisory experience of comparative analysis to give some aspects of the proposed counter measures.
