Enterprise downsizing is actually a passive action to deal with the dilemma, but nowadays it is an important means of human resource management. This phenomenon occurs in China for a long time, and becomes more and more. From this way, the companies reduced costs, improved the quality of personnel and downsized departments, then got more profits. Meanwhile, there are also many problems appeared during the course due to improper operation, which brings quantity of negative impact to the employees, business and our society.The function of management communication can be listed into the following three ways: to let the members realize the situation, to make more effective decisions and organize concerted actions. Communication throughout the whole process of management activities, especially in the modern information society, which plays a much more important role than ever. So many enterprises lost the centripetal force and efficiency just because of the lack of communication. In our country, there are also lots of problems caused by ineffective communication. Thus, we should pay much more attention to its role of corporate downsizing.This paper takes the phenomenon of enterprise downsizing in our country in recent years as the background, uses literature analysis and interview survey methods, applies the theory of management communication and redundancy theory in human resources to get the conclusion. With the help of questionnaire of"Downsizing-communication in China"and the analysis of facts, then the writer got the conclusion: the main problems in the process of layoffs in our country are lack of effective communication, which caused by the barriers existed in each enterprises.On the basis of research and analysis, this paper defines the concept of"Downsizing-communication", proposes the communication strategy of Chinese enterprises layoffs and builds the communication model of staff cuts. Finally, under the guidance of the above theory, the writer gives some specific suggestions to solve the matters that include the whole process of layoffs, and also the former employees return.
