It is an optimal opportunity for tourism and travel industry in China which owes abundant tourism resources to develop while deepening the reform, opening wider to the rest of the world. It is a signify turning point, with the travel service market opening totally in 2005. There are so many unoptimizable phenomenons in the industry, for instance, inferior growth mode of tourism economic, low level of tourism service quality, extensive district management, blind development of tourism resources, and disorder competition between enterprises. All of those imperil the development of tourism and erode the base of tourism and travel industry. So, it is necessary for the industry to improve its development mode.Cluster is researched by Porter in , to improve competitiveness of an industry in a country. The theory is an important strategy which promotes the development of economy and the adjustment of industry structure. Though the theory of cluster has been researched and applied by institutes and governments, the study and application of that is very little in the travel service industry, especially in the Chinese tourism. This paper uses the theory of economic development, the theory of industrial economics and the theory of tourism and travel to make a thorough and systematic research on tourism and travel industry cluster. By studying on basic theoretical questions of cluster concepts and characteristics, and examining its present situation, current status and trend in China, the thesis constructs a tourism cluster structure mode. Meanwhile, the paper proceeds to analyze the competitive advantage and particularity comparing with manufacturing industry. As the conclusion of industry cluster analysis, the paper provides some recommendations on cluster strategy in scientific concept of development. Finally, with all the research and study above the thesis, the thesis positive analyze Zhongshan scenic spot cluster to seek the issues and solution as a application case.
