A Study Of Information System Planning For Production Deployment Management In A Port Corporation

As a critical part of logistics network, ports play a significant role in national economy. To the port corporations, informatization construction can help them extremely increase their competencies in the market. In addition, informatization construction can push these companies to normalize their management practices and modernize their operations. Production deployment is the core of the productions and operations in ports, which might directly affect the production efficiency and economic benefits of the companies. Therefore, it's a key point for modern port corporations to explore the ways to better plan the informatization construction for production deployment, which in return will provide correct and reliable information for the companies and shed light on the development of these companies. This thesis takes what have been discussed above as its context and studies the management information system planning for production deployment in a port.This thesis firstly introduced the current situations of the informatization construction of the port corporations in domestic and abroad. Taking the Guangzhou Port Corporation as example, the author analyzed the business processes and data processes of the port's production deployment. Based on the preliminary work of the project before, the author proposed an integrative architecture of the management information system for production deployment, which is combined with the situations of Guangzhou Port Corporation's informatization construction. Furthermore, the author focused on the realities of the port and provided the corresponding data interface strategies. The author also studied the optimization problems in ship waiting, berth usage, machine arrangement and held that modeling the production deployment problems with the theories of operation research is a key point for future research in port production deployment. Finally, the author narrated his experience in information system planning and gave a summary of his thesis.
