Paternalistic Leadership is such a leadership theory based on Chinese culture,discovered by Cheng Bor-Shiuan during the Practice of Enterprise Management,developing through the conclusion of Qualitative Research and demonstration ofpositivism research in Taiwan. It's leadership behavior mode of virtue, benignity andauthority, has profound culture accumulation, has been practically examined in differentkinds of organizations of Taiwan districts. It becomes the new focal of the China societyleadership research, and the apotheosis of local psychology research. But there is fewpractical researches about Paternalistic Leadership in domestic districts. Whether itexists in the organizations in domestic districts? How about its structure? How about itsvalidity in domestic districts? Does it have its special effect, compared with otherleadership theory? This research tries to respond the questions above through practicalresearch from the viewpoint of organization integration.This research adopts the methods of literature research, interview andquestionnaires survey to study the structure, the measurement of PaternalisticLeadership, the comparison between Paternalistic Leadership and transformationleadership on leadership validity. The whole research investigates more than 600members in three kind organizations in total, based on the sufficient consideration of theorganizational factors' influence, analyses the data by exploratory factor analysis,confirmatory factor analysis, Hierarchical regression analysis and ANOVA, get the followingconclusion:1. The result of exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysisindicate that Paternalistic Leadership is a three-dimension structure of virtue, benignityand authority leadership. Virtue and benignity are positively correlated, the virtue isnegatively correlated with authority, and the benignity is negatively correlated withauthority. The reliability and validity of Paternalistic Leadership questionnairecontaining 30 items in our research have reached the statistical standard. The design ofthe questionnaire is reasonable and valid, and it adapts in domestic district. Comparedwith Taiwanese research results, this research finds three factors of virtue, benignity and authority leadership do not have any sub-factor.2. Through the comparison of Patemalistic Leadership and transformationleadership, it finds the Paternalistic Leadership has greater predictive effect thantransformation leadership in the military organization and government organization; butthe latter predicts better than the former in enterprise organization.3. It's very important to choose the suitable index about leadership validity.Although in the same organization context, as for the same leadership behavior, thedeterminant of leadership validity would be different according to different indices. Weshould combine the concrete index of leadership validity, when we study the relation ofleadership manner and leadership validity. |
