Industrial Structural Evolution And Development Of Foreign Trade In China

This thesis studies on the influent mechanism of the evolution of industrial structure on the foreign trade in China through the theoretical and empirical researches. The thesis elaborates the influence mechanism from the industrial structure on the foreign trade in the international trade theories, with the industrial structure as the bridge between influencing factors and trade. The thesis analyses the development of trade in China with the trade scale, trade structure and the competitive power of the foreign trade. The sharp increase of the foreign trade of China is making the rub with other countries and the distortion of the local main factor market worse. The trade structure in China is undergoing improved and optimized, although the export mainly depends on labor-intensive manufacturing tache and the service trade is poor. To evaluate the competitive power of foreign trade in China, as the indexes of Trade Competition and Revealed Comparative Advantage calculated, the thesis works out the Comparative Advantage index of China with the datum of trade in the world and China. The Comparative Advantage index makes up the defects of Revealed Comparative Advantage index which neglects the import factor. The thesis studies the relation of the industrial structure, comparative advantage structure and foreign trade structure theoretically, considering the comparative advantage structure as the access of anglicizing the industrial structure and foreign trade structure. It makes some computation models to study on the influence of industrial structure on international trade in China empirically, using the data of the industrial structure and foreign trade structure in China between 1980 and 2005, with the result that the industrial structure influences trade scale, trade structure and the competitive power of the foreign trade seriously. The thesis analyses that the development of foreign trade in China should keep up with the dynamic comparative advantage strategy, put forward the industrial structure as the interior comparative advantage. The core of the strategy is to promote the industrial structure. The development of technology and the revolution of systems are the most important ones of factors in optimization of the industrial structure. China should draw lessons from the strategic trade theories, carrying out the strategic trade policy in the related industries and promoting industrial structure and the development of foreign trade.
