As material foundation ,the natural resource should contribute to local economic growth. However, for a long time, many countries with deficient resource have realized "the economic launching", while the economic growth rate of the regions with abundant resource is generally lower than that of the regions with poor resource. Not come singly but in pairs, the Chinese regional economy also has evident difference between the eastern areas and the western areas. Without abundant natural resource, the eastern region's economic growth is far higher than the western region which possesses rich resource endowment. So there is "resource trap phenomenon" in Chinese regional economic growth.. Therefore, it is a meaningful and important job to do thorough research on the relationship between natural resource and the economy growth ,discuss the formation mechanism of resources trap and find the way and outlet to get rid of this kind "the bountiful poverty" for western areas. On the angle of trade, this paper analyses the relationship between natural resource and the regional economic growth and inquires into the formation mechanism of natural resource trap under the trade existence condition. We believed that some factors brought by trade limits the development of the local economic, which includes the region trade condition worsens unceasingly, the uneven assignment of trade benefit due to the vertical region division of labor, as well as resources trap's locked-effect and low-level industrial structure. Therefore, natural resources-oriented western areas are supposed to take some measures to transform its resources comparative advantage to competitive advantage, gets rid of the natural resource trap.
