The Research On Convergence Of Regional Agricultural Productivity And Its Mechanism

The agriculture is the base of national economy. on the stage, the traditional agriculture of our country was transforming into modern agriculture in china. Because the agricultural productivity is the important index to measure modern agriculture, people pay more attention to the index. The purposes of our paper is to find the rule of agricultural productivity on the development of regional harmony and its mechanism.We mainly apply the empirical analysis. This article research is with emphasis aims at measuring agricultural productivity convergence of regional agricultural productivity and its mechanism.To measure the agricultural productivity of provinces, we make use of the Malmquist-index based on DEA frome1978 to 2005,and the Malmquist-index was decompound to the technical progress and efficient progress, The conclusion is following: In the past 30 years, the difference of agricultural productivity among provinces is obvious. Specifically, the regional disparity of provinces among east-area, middle-area, west-area is bigger than in the same area. Agricultural productivity of the provinces in east-area was increasing steadily, but fluctuating in middle-area and west-area, eight provinces was descending. In the past 30 years the agricultural productivity increased at all times by mostly technical progress. The efficiency is backwater, and in some province fell.After measure the agricultural productivity of province, this article uses several methods to investigate the convergence or divergence fact of regional agricultural productivity in the period 1978-2005.the main conclusions are the following: there is no absolute regional convergence andσconvergence since 1978.there exist conditional convergence in the countrywide and the every region ,so the club convergence is the fact.We analyses the influence of the convergence mechanism, the conclusion is following: that Spreading Agricultural Technology, public-goods supply equally and market integration is mainly factor that conduced the he convergence of regional agricultural productivity.At last, some suggestions was given:①increase the agricultural productivity in middle-area and west-area;②the traditional agriculture of our country transforms into modern agriculture faster;③increase the agricultural efficiency;④creating good circumstances of convergence;⑤pay attention to institutional Change;⑥keep the process Spreading Agricultural Technology, public-goods supply equally and market integration.
