The proportion that the material circulation costs occupy of national economy is an important indication of the material circulation lever in a country. As the market competition is getting tough, all enterprises try to find good ways to reduce cost and increase benefit while many sensible entrepreneurs focus on the third benefit source"material circulation"and have made some headway in efforts. But they concern more for the enterprises'external material circulation while the internal which called the dark continent is ignored.This article focuses on the shop equipment arrangement which directly contacts to the material circulation of production. Currently, the shop equipment arrangement of the enterprises in our country mostly use the manual means in the extensive type. With the development of production techniques, low rate of production, long production cycle, high cost and great storage which take up much of the fund have been reared up in production. So it is needed urgently for the enterprises to find the improvement. In reaction to the phenomenon, beginning with the material circulation of the enterprises'production shop, with the study of the large varieties and small quantities machine manufacturing enterprises which are suit for functional arrangement, this article uses genetic algorithm to optimal analyze the equipment arrangement for main production shop. Aiming at the minimum work which material does during transportation in the equipment shop, on the constraint conditions of shop dimension and space between equipments, according to the shop actual production task in the past six months, it builds a mathematical model and arrives at the optimal arrangement by a large number of statistical calculation. According to the requests of walkway and door's location, it finally draws to the shop arrangement which fits to the physical demand with some small adjusting. After comparison, it has a noticed effect that the optimal arrangement can reduce the work that material does during transportation by 18.48%.This article also identified this meaning way's optimal effect by further simulation analysis.
