Datong County as the transition zone lies in the northwest of Xining city, Qinghai Province.Basing on the forestry theory of sustainable development, methods, measures and supporting technology and management methods to conduct a comprehensive discussion and work out the suited measures and way for sustainable development of forestry in Datong County: (1) To strengthen the building of forest ecosystems and to protect them by the ecological engineering projects such as the "Three North" shelter-building, Returning Farmland to Forest Gassland, Rotection of Natural forest resources. (2) developing cological tourism, flower industry, the under-forest resources exploiture and seed-based forestry industry . (3) To consolidate the establishment of the technology extension services system of forestry, and to accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and to promote widely the application of forestry technology,and to solve some technical problems of Forestry production.(4) Strengthening the county Management System of forestry, such as forest protection, fire prevention, rodent pest control, wildlife protection systems and infrastructure construction, and system construction.The main conclusions of this study:(1)The zone of the arid sparse shrub vegetation has been increased in Datong County Forest vegetation division. (2) Summing up the basic achievements and experience of the past forestry management classification, which it was proposed county forestry classification management principles and the type of measures. (3) Forest fires, the forest pests and forest damage, flood control and management have put into the forest disaster area, and use new management concept to prevent forest disaster, and reduce natural disasters (4) The key to forestry sustainable development is necessary to coordinate the relationship between economy and ecological development, and to identify the sustainable operation for the the development basis objective of forest resources. Therefore, the ecological construction as the fundamental goals of forestry sustainable development, which it should be based on local socio-economic conditions, continue development and the establishment of optimal ecological structure, and appropriate local resources and economic conditions at the smallest cost, and Realizing the maximization of the economic and the optimal condition of the ecosystem.
