| China's direct investment abroad(DIA) has developed exceptionally fast recently. However,the relevant research has left behind compared with the studies on attracting foreign direct investment(FDI).The academic gains of exploration on factors affecting the location selection of China's DIA are especially unsatisfactory.It can be sure that much more persuasive conclusions would be secured with updated data and a more logical econometrical model on the basis of currently available literature.Meanwhile,the future development path for the direct investment abroad of our country could be seen by comparing the factors impacting upon the location selection of China and the U.S.'s DIA.This paper introduces the development of China's direct investment abroad with the help of data and diagrams.After the concept clarification of FDI and DIA,pertinent theories are reviewed,in which Dunning's Eclectic Theory of International Production, achievements accomplished by Xiang Benwu(2005),Wei Houkai,He Canfei and Wang Xin(2002) are the focal points,and they are applied to build the model in the latter part. The annual flow of China's direct investment into the foreign country is set to be the explained variable,and the model with the optimally explanatory ability is built with several explanatory variables and the data collected for 2005 and 2006,which is compared with the model created with the support of the data for 2004 and 2005,in order to analyze the factors having effects on the location selection of China's DIA.After that they are compared with those affecting the U.S.,for the purpose of assaying the problems in China's direct investment abroad,probing into its development trend,and putting forward proposals to improve it on macro,middle and micro level.The points and imperfect of this paper are summarized at the end,and looking forward to the future research is given.
