Both United States and Japan are China's major trading partners. With China's accession to the WTO, the trade volume of Sino-US and Sino-Japanese routes is increasing steadily. However, in recent years, the shipping freight of China's container liner market fluctuate, which bring adverse effects to Chinese export trade undoubtedly. This is because lower-value-added goods also account for a large proportion in Chinese export products , also freight accounts for a large proportion in the total cost of export products .Freight fluctuations bring great difficulty to export account and quotation, weaken our price advantage of export products, and impact our export competitiveness. In addition, the Sino-US trade routes belong to the Pan-Pacific route, which is a typical ocean container shipping route, the Sino-Japanese route was typical recent foreign container shipping route, the two routes container freight fluctuations characteristics and their corresponding market are significantly different. In order to urge the healthy and stable development of container transport market, this thesis is focused on exhuming the law of freight fluctuation, and find the inherent reasons of freight fluctuation.This thesis is entitled " Economic Analysis of the Fluctuations in Freight Rates between Sino-US and Sino-Japanese Routes," which is based on Chinese Container Freight Index (CCFI), starts from Sino-US and Sino-Japanese routes freight fluctuation characteristics.and analyses around " the characteristics differences of Sino-US routes and Sino-Japanese routes freight fluctuations and what factors lead to these differences, as well as how to affect ".First of all, this thesis longitudinally analysis the freight characteristics on the basis of Sino-US routes and Sino-Japanese route, then has the two freight fluctuations characteristic a horizontal comparison analysis, so it sums up the difference of the fluctuations characteristics. Namely, the CCFI of Sino-US routes run at a high level, its freight level is significantly higher than that of the Sino-Japanese route; The CCFI of the Sino-US route has a long-term upward trend, also the autocorrelation of month CCFI is smaller, the other way round, and the month CCFI of Sino-Japanese routes decreased in the long-term. According to the Industrial Economic Theory, the market structure is the basic factor to determine the market price formation, so as to determine the competitive nature of industrial organization. This thesis introduce the market structure theory of Industry Economics which is related to freight fluctuations, and do an in-depth economic analysis to the freight fluctuation from market concentration, products differentiation, and market-access barriers, market supply and demand as well as freight consultations and supervision.The thesis revealed the different market according to the diffent freight fluctuation characteristics.
