Multinational corporations play a important role in terms of development of global economy and technology. With the fast development of FDI and multinational corporations around the world, especially the development of foreign multinational corporations in China and the increase of Chinese multinational corporations, it is a important topic that how to improve the development of Chinese multinational corporations and increase their competitive advantages by global knowledge transfer. Although it is commmonly acknowledged that global knowledge transfer is a source of competitive advantages for multinational corporations, releated researches are not enough and can not completely reveal the processes and rules of knowledge transfer in multinational corporations, and there is also a lack of researches of related mechanisms to improve knowledge transfer. So the purpose of this paper is to reveal the processes and rules of knowledge transfer and give mechanisms of improving knowledge transfer in multinational corporations, so as to give a hlep for Chinese multinational corporations to gain their competitive advantages by global knowledge transfer. This paper uses normaltive research. On the basis of summarizing related thoeries, and with the idea that organizational structrure is the base of carrying out srtategies, this paper gives the functions of organizational structrure of multinational corporations for knowledge transfer, then analyses the characteristics of this organizational structrure and its function of promoting knowledge transfer and the paths of knowledge transfer formed by this organizational structrure. Then a model of knowledge transfer in multinational corporations is presented in this paper, which is relatively completed and includes the whole processes of knowledge transfer in multinational corporations, and which is also a innovation of this paper. Then the following chapters analyse the model above. As for the shortcomings of process theory, this paper analyses the processes of knowledge transfer in multinational corporations, inluding characters of nodes, embedded knowledge transfer, complementary knowledge transfer, phases of knowledge transfer, SECI process, and especially analyses the functions of characteristics of social relationship in terms of knowledge transfer, including the influnces from tie characteristics and structure characteristics themselves alone and together for knowledge transfer.. As the shortcomings of influence-factor theory are considered, this paper gives five influence factors and a model of influence factors of knowledge transfer in multinational corporations, then analyses the relation of the five influence factors, and recognizes that all of the other factors will influnce the processes of knowledge transfer by putting pressure on the factor of persons taking part in this process of knowledge transfer. On the basis of researches above, this paper gives mechanisms of improving knowledge transfer in multinational corporations, that is, motivation and control mechanisms, and analyses the content of these mechanisms ,give related selections of these mechanisms by summarizing reshearches above of processes of knowledge transfer and influnce factors, so as to provide a method for improving knowledge transfer in multinational corporations by selecting correct motivation and control mechanisms. This is another innovation of this paper.
