An Empirical Study On The Relationship Of CSR And Corporate Financial Performance In Chinese Listed Companies

The issue of Corporate social responsibility (CSR) receives more and more recognition from both academy and business, business's concern force on whether CSR has negative impact on corporate pursuing profit and whether business will find balance between them, so the empirical research on the relationship between CSR and corporate performance will provide the answer.This study starts from the concept and main type of Corporate social responsibility (CSR) and then brings forward CSR index. On the basis of this, the study research on the relationship between CSR and corporate financial performance, and will provide theoretical and empirical support for the better corporate social performance.Through analysis of literature, this study finds the fact that there are less social database related with CSR in China, which provide data for foreign research. With this limit, this study bases on the analysis of the financial report and defines CSR in china to five types, then this study selects evaluated indexes from these five dimensions and brings forward mufti-dimensional and mufti-level CSR evaluated system, and chooses above 500 corporations as the swatch. Then by using the method of the principal component analysis, the study computes the social responsibility index, thus obtains the position of the CSR.According to studies the supposition and the examined model, the study makes regression on the data by using SPSS, and finally validates the relationship between CSR and corporate financial performance. The result prove the hypothesis, CSR to stakeholders will improve corporate financial achievement following the direct impact route, and CSR can be combined tightly with corporate strategy. At the same time, the better financial achievement also improves CSR. That explains the mutually promoted relation between CSR and financial performance.
