As a strategic resource in the ages of knowledge-based economy, human resource has been already accepted by more and more enterprises. Be similar to other resources, human resource can create value and increase value for the enterprise. The core of the human resource management (HRM) is now to carry out the realization of the manpower capital value and increase in value through the management of the value chain. The most important thing in HRM is to combine the HR and business functions through HR value chain management. From now on, most of them are told through rationalism and functional models. There are so few methods to quantify the human resource value. Compared VCM in SCM (Supply Chain Management) with in HRM, this thesis concluded that inventory is also adaptive in HRM.The research mainly focuses on how to reduce the inventory of the HR based on value chain management. The first chapter introduces the background and meaning of the writing. The second chapter introduces relevant theories, including supply chain management and control theory of the stock, especially, the component of the inventory cost. The third chapter, based on the inventory theory, focuses on the inventory costs about human resource, and how they come. The fourth chapter introduces some important methods to reduce the inventory of the human resource, such as BPR (business process re-engineering), Human Resource Planning and so on. At the end, the thesis makes a research on a real case about inventory of human resource. The thesis advanced a notion of inventory in HRM, constituted the mathematical model, and its feasibility was fully investigated by case analysis. The research provided a new method to enhance quantification in human resource value evaluation.
