The Study On Chinese Commercial Banks' Cross-border Mergers & Acquisitions

Over the last decade,the world banking set off a wave of cross-border mergers and acquisitions.Banks in various countries and district seize the market and win the competition through large-scale cross-border mergers and acquisitions.From the theory and practice of merger,we can find that cross-border mergers and acquisitions played a significant role on the success of an international bank.With the opening up of China's RMB business to the outside world,Chinese commercial banks begin to face the increasingly fierce competition,while joint-stock reforms of Chinese commercial banks begin to show results and market conditions for mergers and acquisitions are increasingly mature.Cross-border mergers and acquisitions has become the main approach in which Chinese commercial banks cope with the challenges to start the international operations and improve their own efficiency.Commercial banks cross-border mergers and acquisitions involving two major aspects: First,efficiency,that is,cross-border mergers and acquisitions of commercial banks on the level of efficiency,and the other is commercial banks cross-border acquisition strategy,that is,specific track on which commercial banks implement cross-border acquisition strategies.This paper,on the base of traditional theory of banks cross-border acquisitions and efficiency,combined with China's special national conditions of political,economic and social,uses of evaluation model to research efficiency of Chinese commercial banks cross-border mergers and acquisitions, analyses the necessity for Chinese commercial banks cross-border acquisitions in the current situation.Learning commercial banks cross-border mergers and acquisitions experience of international banks,this paper point out the Progressive cross-border acquisitions strategy is the one which is suit for Chinese commercial banks.Finally in terms of geographical expansion, organizational forms,business development and selection of methods this paper bring forward some measures to improve cross-border acquisition strategy of Chinese commercial banks,with a view to push forward international process of China's banking and to achieve the country's financial strategy.
