Studies On The Development Of Microfinance In ASEAN-4

After the appearance in 20^th century 70's,microfinance had proven to be an effective tool of anti-poverty.And it plays a vital role in advancing the development of rural economics,increasing earnings and obtaining employment.In Asia,the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh has developed a successful GB mode of microfinance. In Indonesia,the Bank Rakyat Indonesia Unit system is considered one of the most successful microfinance providers in the world.The microfinance sectors in the Philippines,Thailand and Malaysia also have developed well in recent years.China is somewhat of a latecomer to microfinance.Since introduced into China in 90s of last century,microfinance has made rapid progress in our country.But among all the microfinance institutions of our country,there is no institution which operate totally under commercial principles and no institution has achieved the goal of sustainable development.This article is divided into six chapters.Chapter1 is the chapter of theoretical basis for the research,including three parts:the definition of microfinance, introduction of the emergence and development of microfinance and the effects of microfinance practice.Chapter2 to Chapter5 are the main body of this article. introduce the development of microfinance,the characteristic of microfinance followed with the analysis of successful case in ASEAN-4(including Malaysia, Philippines,Thailand and Indonesia).Chapter6 and also the last chapter conclude the whole article.Analyzes the major different in ASEAN-4's microfinance,and then analyzes the development and the problems of microfinance in our country and provide some suggestions for the better development of our country's microfinance.Although this paper focused on the development of microfinance in 4 Southeast Asian Countries,its purpose was to find some successful points for the better development of our country's microfinance.
